Hello! It has been a while since I last posted so I thought it would be wise to do a quick run down of what I have been working on:
Self Promotion
Creating my new website (the one that is live now – hooray!), designing/printing my new business card and updating my showreel. I have also created a personal piece which I will place on my website soon (you can see a sneek preview of this at the end of my showreel).
Animations
1) Lola & Mahmood – Multimedia Advocacy in Action / RIX Research & Media
The longest animation I have worked on yet (almost 10 mins!) This is a multimedia advocacy story starring Lola & Mahmood. I worked with talented artist Pen Mendonca and sound designer Luis Bonilla. This animation is going to form part of a Multimedia Advocacy Open University course, to help students understand the human side of how powerful a tool multimedia advocacy can be for people with special needs & disabilities.
2) CB Pathway animations / Nottinghamshire County Council
In the process of making these animations, the client and myself developed this simple yet striking visual style. Not only has this worked well in explaining a complicated process, but it has also helped to establish a low cost model to producing animations. One animation was created for the general public whilst the other one was created for GPs. You can watch these here.
3) EHCP Meeting animation / Oxfordshire County Council
Oxfordshire County Council requested I produce one of my stick-figure-style-animations for this process which describes in detail what happens at an EHCP meeting. The target audience are those with special needs and disabilities, as well as their families and associated professionals. This can be viewed here. This was voiced by talented voice over artist & actress Laura Bozic.
4) SAS Apps – Absence Management
SAS Apps got in contact for an additional bit of animation to describe their absence management software.. this was designed to fit onto the end of the SAS Apps Promo animation I did for them previously. It can be viewed here (it is the segment from 3 – 4 mins).
Illustrations
I had a lot of fun making these illustrations for RIX. Similar to the Lola and Mahmood animation, these were created to support the same Multimedia Advocacy Open University courses that are in development. They illustrate some important concepts and tools which can be used for person centred planning for young people with disabilities. Here is one below – but please visit this page to see more!
Graphic Facilitation
I attended Scopes “Befriending in Action” launch event to capture the values of their fantastic befriending service. For more on this, please click here.
General Life Stuff
I now have a desk space at the wonderful Bootstrap building in Dalston, East London! It is a fantastic place to work, full of like minded creatives and entrepreneurs.

Recently I have been involved with producing graphic facilitation work at the Rix Research and Media Centre. Here is a piece I produced most recently, at their second “Wiki Showcase Event”. The showcase event was a chance to demonstrate all the virtues of the Wiki through a series of presentations. It also provided a forum for Q & A sessions with the aim of resolving any queries people had. Those who attended the event were mainly representatives of councils from across England who have an interest in rolling out the Wiki in their respective areas.
Prior to this event I had recently completed an animation which helps to explain all about the Wiki – this can be viewed in the previous news post or on my Work page.. the animation was also screened at the event.

Over the last few weeks I have spent time working on an animation for the great team at RIX Research and Media. This animation helps to explain the features, functions and purposes of a RIX Wiki, which is an online multimedia tool designed for use by people with special educational needs.
This was a joy to produce and I was able to apply a lot of new techniques I have learned recently with regards to fine tuning the motion in After Effects, and also really getting to grips with Illustrator. This is also the first project I have worked on collaborating with my friend Luis Fernando Bonilla who did an excellent job on the sound design.

In my spare time, I have completed a 50 lesson tutorial by Digital Tutors entitled “Explaining Complex Topics with Motion Graphics in After Effects”. The outcome of which is this great little animation that helps to explain what a Black Hole is. Enjoy!
